Trekking Permits in Nepal

Most treks require one or more permits. Fees and rules are updated by the authorities from time to time, so always confirm current prices with your agency. Figures below are approximate.

Everest Region

  • Sagarmatha National Park entry permit
  • Khumbu local (rural municipality) permit

Annapurna Region

  • Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)
  • TIMS card where required

Langtang Region

  • Langtang National Park entry permit
  • TIMS card where required

Restricted Areas (Upper Mustang, Manaslu, Dolpo)

These require special permits that can only be arranged through a registered Nepali trekking agency, usually with a minimum group size and a licensed guide. Permits for Upper Mustang are significantly more expensive.

Where to Get Permits

Permits are issued by the Nepal Tourism Board and local offices in Kathmandu and Pokhara. Booking through a verified agency saves time and ensures you have the correct documents.
